STUNNING SLOAN

The wines of Stuart Sloan are, in a word, spectacular. With aromas of melted licorice, mocha, blackberry, cassis, barbecue spice, and sweet chocolate, these are reference point wines that are the hallmark of the very best that California can be.

Here’s what critic Robert Parker has to say about this great winery:

“Talk about coming out with a Big Bang! Stuart Sloan, the Seattlebusinessman, has hit both gold and home runs with his extraordinary vineyard perched high on a hill above the renowned restaurant/hotel complex of Auberge du Soleil. A 60-acre estate only partially planted in vines, with David Abreu handling the viticulture and Martha Levy(wife of Harlan Estates’ Bob Levy) making the wine, this is as impressive a new operation as I have ever witnessed.”

Includes:

One bottle of 2003 Sloan Cabernet Sauvignon

One bottle of 2004 Sloan Cabernet Sauvignon

Today the red, rocky soils have been replanted and a stone winery with 22,000 square feet of subterranean caves has been built. This picturesque site is flanked by the renowned vineyards of Dalla Valle, Plumpjack, Harlan Estate’s Bond, St. Eden Vineyard, Screaming Eagle, and Phelps Backus.

This is truly world class wine with simply phenomenal richness and depth.

THE NAME IS BOND. . . JUST BOND

Bond is the newest project of Bill Harlan and his wine making team, Bob Levy and Michel Roland. A great introduction to Bond’s style is Matriarch, a beautifully made wine with wonderfully sweet notes of smoke, lead pencil shavings, black cherries, and cassis, made in an opulent textural style with impressive concentration, low acidity, and silky tannin. It possesses ripe and super lush layers of seductive black cherry, blackberry, plum and spice, with a smooth texture and ripe, mouth-coating tannins accented by a hint of melted chocolate.

This is really sexy juice folks and the name is Bond . . . just Bond.

A FLEURY ESTATE WINERY SPECTACULAR

Here’s a rare opportunity to hobnob with the Napa Valley in-crowd. Spend two nights and three days at Fleury Estate Winery’s lovely cottage house, with its lavender garden and Napa Valley charm, taste their stunning range of wines and take home three spectacular bottles to boot.

“We allow the grapes to take center stage in every barrel, bottle and glass of our wines,” says Brian Fleury, and his boutique winery reflects that approach. A successful Bay Area businessman who brought his family to the Napa Valley ten years ago, he turned his passion for collecting fine wine into a passion for making it. Fleury Estate Winery now owns 50 acres spanning three vineyards in three appellations and at three elevations: Rutherford, St. Helena and Howell Mountain. Its small Rutherford facility produces and sells out of 3,000 cases a year by winery sales only, without the use of distributors.

Brian is a self-taught wine maker who learned the craft by hiring various mentors and working alongside them. Clearly, he’s learned well, since his wines are in such great demand.

Includes:

• A 3 day and 2 night stay at the 4 bedroom / 2 bathroom Fleury Estate Winery Vineyard House

• Private tour and tasting

• One Three-Liter bottle each of 2004, 2005 and 2006 Lauren Bryce Cabernet Sauvignon

THE STUNNING 2005 MARGAUX

Of the magnificent 2005 Margaux, Michael Troise wrote: “When I asked Paul Pontailler, proprietor of Château Margaux, how he thought his 2005 would rank alongside the Margaux immortals, he said that in his lifetime, he had never experienced a wine like it and that it would stand easily with the three other vintages he considered the best he’d seen at Margaux, 1996, 2000 and 2003.” When pressed further to have to choose one of the four vintages from which to take a single bottle into the future, he (coyly) said “... it’s so hard, I don’t know, but maybe the 2005. By anyone’s standards it is a phenomenal young wine with unimaginable potential. It is a lush, velvety and extremely dense, an almost magical elixir of Château Margaux. Super-fresh red and blackberries burst in the mouth with that almost crunchy tang I alluded to earlier, finishing forever with a palatecoating fruit compote and toffee veneer.

This is Grace Kelly wearing Valenciennes lace and a diamond tiara. It literally took my breath away, it was that stunning.”

BEAUTY AND BRAINS . . .AND TALENT

You’ve seen her picture and you’ve read about both her and her wines in every wine publication you can imagine. We’re talking about Ann Colgin of course. Well, thanks to the efforts of Chairman Ted Mandes, the Kravis Center has been very fortunate to have received an extraordinarily generous gift from Ann, a special edition box containing each of her wines from the great 2005 vintage.

Robert Parker said of this stunning winery “Colgin is one of the reference points for just what heights mountain-grown Cabernet Sauvignon,Bordeaux varietals, and more recently, Syrah, can achieve in Napa Valley. This beautiful estate and winery overlooking Lake Hennessey is owned by Joe Wender and his wife, Ann Colgin (equally renowned for her auctioneering skills), who are assisted by David Abreu, the well-known Bordeaux wine consultant, Dr. Alain Raynaud, and Allison Tauziet, who has skillfully replaced the brilliant Mark Aubert.”

Ladies and gentlemen, these are among the greatest wines produced in California today . . . and believe us when we say that the whole world knows it too.

AN INCREDIBLE BORDEAUX TASTING

Invite a few of your very best friends over for dinner one night and have the most incredible Bordeaux party of your life. Just take a look at these magnificent wines, two of which have received unbelievable reviews from Robert Parker (below), the 1982 Lafite and 1982 Mouton. We’re not talking Yellow Tail here so please make sure your lucky guests know what they’re lucky enough to experience.

“The 1982 Lafite possesses a dark, dense ruby/purple color with only a subtle lightening at the rim. Spectacular aromatics offer jammy cherry and black fruits intertwined with lead pencil, mineral, and smoky wood scents. Powerful for a Lafite, this wine unfolds to reveal extraordinary richness, purity, and overall symmetry in addition to stunning flavor depth and persistence. The finish lasts for nearly a minute. Plenty of tannin remains, and the wine displays a vibrancy and youthfulness that belie its 18 years of age. The modern day equivalent of Lafite-Rothschild’s immortal 1959, the 1982 will enjoy another 30-70 years of life. An amazing achievement!”

“This wine (1982 Mouton) remains one of the legends of Bordeaux. It has thrown off the backward, youthful style that existed during its first 25 years of life, and over the last 4-5 years has developed such secondary nuances as cedar and spice box. The crème de cassis, underlying floral note, full-bodied power, extraordinary purity, multilayered texture, and finish of over a minute are a showcase for what this Chateau accomplished in 1982. The wine is still amazingly youthful, vibrant, and pure. It appears capable of remaining fruity and vibrant in 2082!”

Includes one bottle each of:

1989 Château Cheval Blanc

1990 Château La Dominique

1994 Château Clinet

1982 Château Lafite Rothschild

1996 Château Monbousquet

1985 Château Margaux

1982 Château Mouton Rothschild

1995 Château Troplong Mondot

1982 Château Calon-Ségur

1993 Château Haut-Brion

1995 Château La Fleur de Gay

1996 Château Pichon Lalande
